DONNA'S COMMENTS
Spring is all around me in Alabama. The azaleas and daffodils and
dogwoods are blooming and making everything look so fresh and
beautiful. The birds seem to be enjoying it also as they sing and
choose their mates. We live in the woods so we get to see a lot of
God's creation close up. Animal life is marvelous and their way of
living is a daily lesson for us to step back and slow down. Take one
day at a time. In America we expect so much out of life that we
don't get to enjoy what we have. Contentment is a hard lesson in the
USA.
I hope each of you are taking time to notice the emergence of Spring
where ever you are. There should be signs now even in the north. It
reminds us that we can spring forth with new life and new purpose
also. After a cold and bare winter season of life, Spring always
comes forth. If you're in a 'wintering" season of life....hang in
there! Spring is coming!
Hugs to you!
Donna

HEALTH/HERBAL INFO
HEPATITIS
Milk thistle is a preferred herb for this disease, and most liver
ailments,
in most pets. When used in a formula you get the many benefits of a
varied
approach to the health problem.
Milk Thistle consists of three powerful liver-protective flavonoids.
These
flavonoids, silybin, silydianin, and silychristin, are usually
referred to
as silymarin. The effects of silymarin are well researched, showing
protection against such hepato-toxins as alcohol, carbon
tetrachloride,
pesticides, heavy metals, and acetaminophen overdose. Not only can
silymarin
protect liver cells, it can regenerate already damaged ones.
Additionally,
silymarin was shown to increase liver, stomach, and intestinal
glutathione.
Nature's Sunshine's Milk Thistle Combination provides nutrients that
must be
present for the liver to perform its 500 or more functions. It
contains
Vitamin A & C, milk thistle extract (80% silymarin, 175 mg.),
dandelion root
(150 mg.), choline bitartrate (60 mg.), and inositol (60 mg.).

SUCCESS STORY
EAR INFECTIONS, VAGINITIS, and DERMATITIS
"Most people have heard of ACIDOPHILUS and know that it is good for
the
digestive tract. It's especially useful while taking antibiotics as
it helps
to replace the "good" bacteria that antibiotics kill off. But here is
a
lesser known, but equally beneficial use for acidophilus. Simply open
two
(2) capsules of GARLIC and put into 3 cups of water and bring to a
boil.
Let it cool to room temperature and add two (2) capsules of
ACIDOPHILUS
and you have a potent healing rinse! This is a good combination to use
on those red, inflamed ear flaps that accompany ear infections. It
also
makes a great rinse for dogs who suffer from vaginitis and certain
types of
dermatitis." Tracy R.

HE PEED WHERE?
The most often-asked questions in my mail box and Forum are those
having to do with cats eliminating outside the litterbox. Shelters will tell you
this is the most common reason people give for surrendering their
cats.
This week's feature article is an in-depth discussion of how to cope
with this common problem. http://cats.about.com/pets/cats/library/weekly/aa020200a.htm

PRODUCT FOCUS
SKN-AV
Skin formula used in pets mainly for skin allergies. The skin is a
primary
organ of detoxification, and manifestatins on the skin often reflect
the
general state of internal health. The skin needs proper nourishment to
remain healthy and the herbs in this formula are specifically for the
skin.

Herb Usage Tips:
We have used herbs and supplements with pets since 1982 and that was
benore
there was a market for "natural pet products." We've always adapted
to the
pet. If you can administer in capsule/tablet form, that's great. If
not,
open the capsule or crush the tablet and put it into food. You can
also
brew the herbs as a tea and administer by dropperful or in water
bowl. Some
of the herbs come in a liquid. Choose a product that will be easy to
use
with the pet you are working with.
