I hope everybody had a lovely Mother's Day whether your kids are human or animal.
Animals know how to say "thanks" every day --- they do it best when
you're holding the food and they have an empty tummy :-)
There's always somebody in our lives that's been a "mom" to us too and
it's not too late even today to call them and say "thanks."
This year our son, Benjamin, sent my gift two weeks ahead so I've had to ponder
what it is. I've tried to get a hint, but to no avail. I'm the type that NEVER
sneaks a peak. Don't really want to know until "the" day - whether it's
Mother's Day, Christmas, or Birthday.
Actually I had a gift every one of those days as I waited and looked at it on
the hearth and then looked nearby at those baby pictures. He will be 21 this year.
Hard to believe! Time goes by so quickly. Remember that! If you have some "clutter"
in the midst of your family relationships....make every effort to pull the weeds.

ESSENTIAL OIL-INDUCED SEIZURES

Although this is a "human" report, it was posted on an epileptic pet
list, so I thought it was great information to consider if anybody has an epileptic
pet.

Several plant-derived essential oils have been known for over a century to have
epileptogenic properties. We report three healthy patients, two adults and one
child, who suffered from an isolated generalized tonic-clonic seizure and a generalized
tonic status, respectively, related to the absorption of several of these oils
for therapeutic purposes. No other cause of epilepsy was found, and outcome was
good in the two adult cases, but the course has been less favorable in the child.
A survey of the literature shows essential oils of 11 plants to be powerful convulsants
(eucalyptus, fennel, hyssop, pennyroyal, rosemary, sage, savin, tansy, thuja,
turpentine, and wormwood) due to their content of highly reactive monoterpene
ketones, such as camphor, pinocamphone, thujone, cineole, pulegone, sabinylacetate,
and fenchone. Our three cases strongly support the concept of plant-related toxic
seizure. Nowadays the wide use of these compounds in certain unconventional medicines
makes this severe complication again possible.

** SUCCESS STORY **
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR FOR EAR MITES
"I use a mix of apple cider vinegar in olive oil. First, clean the ear with
a Q-tip, removing the brown waxy buildup. Then, with a dropper, drop 6 or 7 drops
in each ears, holding the ear flap closed for a few minutes after each treatment
to keep from shaking the oil all over you. A few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
in the water is also supposed to act as a repellent and general tonic. Handy stuff...a
