** DONNA'S COMMENTS **
ARE YOU BUYING PET FOODS THAT FUND ANIMAL TESTING?
It doesn't seem right that a company that tortures animals also sells pet
foods. There is a lot to learn about the supposed "necessity" of animal
testing for the welfare of the human race. Perhaps you'd like to study more
about the scientific reasons for not using animal testing. Here's an
article without any of those sad pictures:
http://www.aavs.org/Docs/basic2.htm
Proctor & Gamble has entered the pet food market with the $2.3 billion
purchase of the Iams Company. Iams produces the Eukanuba and Iams brands.
P&G's brands include Tide detergent and Crest toothpaste. P&G has long
been
a target internationally for boycott due to their animal testing.
There is NO law that requires companies to test their personal care and
household products on animals before selling them to consumers!
Sophisticated alternatives to the use of animals in consumer product testing
are readily available. Read more:

If you've been using these foods and want some other options, we recommend
natural foods so the animal can maintain the best of health. We truly are
what we eat since food is designed to feed nutrition to our bodies at a
cellular level.....that applies to pets also. To read more about pet diets

** HEALTH/HERBAL INFO **
YOUR AGING CAT'S NUTRITIONAL NEEDS
From: http://www.internetpets.com
As cats grow older, monitoring your older cat's appetite, food consumption,
eating habits, weight and body condition will be helpful when you and your
veterinarian determine your cat's specific nutritional requirements and
diet. Unlike dogs, metabolism changes and their need for calories does not
decrease. A cat's energy needs stays the same throughout adulthood. Obesity
can affect during middle age, but decreases as cat's grow older.
An older cat should not be placed on a protein restricted diet. In fact,
some older cats may need to have an increased amount of fat and protien due
to the way their digestive system changes. As always, see your vet first
before making a dietary change.
Some cats eat less with age and may not receive their daily needs of
vitamins and minerals. Some vitamins may play a role in protecting against
some normal aging processes. Consult with your veterinarian to determine
which supplements may be beneficial for your cat.
Older cats may not drink sufficient amounts of water which can exacerbate
constipation problems and contribute to dehydration in cats with kidney
disease. Offering more sources of water and adding flavoring to the water
may entice some cats to drink more.
Your finicky cat may decide not to eat the same cat food of the past 10
years. There are many solutions. Switch to canned food and heat to a warm
temperature before serving. This will increase the aroma. Feed smaller
amounts of food at higher frequencies. If your cat seems tense or afraid,
move the eating area to a calming area for the cat. If your cat doesn't
mind, pet and talk softly while she eats to encourage this behavior.
Consult your veterinarian before switching diet plans or altering any aspect
of their health care.

** SUCCESS STORY **
SEIZURES
"I just wanted to let you know about something I tried on our dachshund.
She
began having small seizures at 5 years old. The veterinarian's only
suggestion was to put her on tranquilizers permanently if they became worse
or consistent. I decided to try some VALERIAN ROOT liquid I had, just 4
drops in her food twice daily, and it worked! I gave that to her for a week
and the seizures stopped. In a couple of months she started having them
again so I repeated the regimen. It seems to keep the seizures at bay and I
don't have to keep her drugged continuously. I'm happy with the results."

** BEHAVIORAL/EMOTIONAL ISSUE **
WHAT ELSE IS NEW FOR CATS' BEHAVIORS?
The most asked-for section is behavior. We need help in understanding our
kitties and what's going on in their minds (and heart?). This subject is
addressed very well with lots of links at the About.com Cats site.

KELP
This seaweed is so rich in trace minerals and nutrients that build health.
Have you ever wondered why Oriental people have such shiny hair? Those
cultures that include seaweeds in their diets have beautiful hair.
Kelp is known the feed the thyroid and has been used for goiter and weight

our pets today, so Kelp can be of benefit. It's also known to clean out the
