** DONNA'S COMMENTS **
Summertime issues are important for pets. The heat is an obvious problem
for pets, but summer is also the time that pet owners fight their hardest
battle with fleas.
Now that flea season is upon us, the ASPCA/National Animal Poison Control
Center (NAPCC) is urging pet owners to practice safe pest control. Flea
products that are labeled 'for use on dogs only'--including topical
products containing permethrin--should NEVER be used on cats.
Says NAPCC's Jill A. Richardson, DVM, "Permethrin products have a good
range of safety when used on dogs, but even a few drops of concentrated
permethrin could be lethal to a cat." Signs of toxicity in domestic
felines, which can develop within hours or be delayed up to two days,
include muscle tremors and seizures.
For more information, visit: http://www.napcc.aspca.org/. The NAPCC, the
only ANIMAL-ORIENTED POISON CONTROL CENTER in North America, offers an
emergency hotline--1-888-4-ANI-HELP--providing round-the-clock telephone
assistance.
Make a note of the website and put the phone number with your emergency
numbers at the telephone. It may save your pets life one day.
Have a purrfect week!

INTERNAL CONTROL OF EXTERNAL PARASITES
(Like fleas...)
As people we know that what we put in our body, affects our outward
appearance and overall health. This is true for our pets as well. By
putting healthy things (foods, vitamins, minerals) in our bodies, we can
affect their outward appearance as well. This includes good hair, skin, and
even flea control.

EAR MITES & TICKS
"I use Tea Tree Oil for ear mites. It's great for fur mites too. It is
antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal. It even works for ticks by putting
the oil directly on the tick until it's dead. Then remove it; it will heal
the hole also. Good for acne, warts and a lot more." Cheryl

PEPPERMINT OIL
This essential oil has many useful purposes for humans so when I read about
a veterinarian using it for animals with thunder phobia and for calming an
animal when needed, I was excited. I carry this in my purse all the time.
It's great to have for digestion, sinuses, and fresh breath. Now it's also
great to have when my critters get so anxious when a storm is brewing. I
just rub it on the feet. Essential oils are absorbed into the blood stream
and get to work pretty quickly. The scent seems to be relaxing to them
also.
