** DONNA'S COMMENTS **
I love stories like this! It really shows pets have a place in all areas of
our society. This is cute!
GOLDEN RETRIEVER APPOINTED TO TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE STAFF
As announced earlier this month, Dylan, a seven-year-old golden retriever,
will serve as Ashby, MA's, town hall dog for the fiscal year 2001.
What does he plan to do in his new capacity? Says town administrator Linda
Sanders, who also happens to be Dylan's owner, "It's hard to speak for
him, but from observation I think he'll continue to do what he's done
unofficially for the past three years--greet people with a friendly wag,
show people where the town clerk's office is when they want a dog license
and occasionally deliver the mail."
We didn't discuss salary, but Sanders reports that almost everyone on staff
keeps a jar of dog biscuits on their desk.
Have a bow-wow week!

** SUCCESS STORY **
DANDELION for PETS
"Dandelion is an excellent food given fresh in unlimited quantities.
Fermenting or wilted plants can cause bloat. Dandelions are one of the most
nutritious food plants for rabbits. Being rich in protein and poor in fiber..
The digestibility percentage is high at an estimated 70%. Well known for
it's curative powers. The bitter milky sap stimulates the working of all
glands, including the milk glands of lactating does. The plant has both
laxative and astringent qualities and regulates constipation and diarrhea.
Dandelion is good for many things in people and can be used for rabbits (and
other animals) with these problems also: preventing osteoporosis (for the
old bunny or pets), bladder infections, lactating, liver problems, swelling,
tonsilitis, warts, and pneumonia.
I feed a lot of Dandelion every day, especially to my babies and they just
love it, but you have to be careful because that is all that they will want
and won't eat their pellets. So I limit it to a few small handfuls a day."

A GIFT OF PREY
The cats that most commonly bring home prey as gifts for their owners are
spayed females. It is believed that they are redirecting their instincts to
