** DONNA'S COMMENTS **
My comments this week aren't on a very positive note since there are some
current humane issues at hand. I know it's a busy time in December....but
take a few moments to respond to the following information.
Cat Lovers:
AIDS STUDY AT OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY USING CATS
A professor at Ohio State University intends to give healthy cats FIV and
then inject them with methamphetamines to study the effects of meth on human
AIDS patients. Surprisingly enough, along with animal lovers, even AIDS
activists are stunned by this inhumane waste of money. Sign the petition or
email key people with the addresses provided at this site:

Dog Lovers:
102 DALMATIONS - BEWARE AND BE INFORMED!
Countless parents will relent to the begging and pleading and bring a
Dalmatian into a home unprepared for the reality of the breed. Countless
puppies will be given as Christmas presents (thanks to Disney's
irresponsible decision as to the timing of the release date) only to end up
in shelters after the New Year rolls around.

PETS NEED EXTRA T.L.C. DURING WINTER
During winter weather, every pet owner should be prepared to provide pets
with a little extra Tender Loving Care. Dr. Sheila McCullough, veterinarian,
offers the following advice about these winter pet woes: antifreeze
poisoning, appropriate shelter, diet, and frost bite.

CAN I PUT MY DOG IN THE TRUNK?
Whether you are headed to the grocery store or headed to another country,
the dog (or cat, iguana, or bird) definitely shouldn't ride in the trunk.
But there are a number of ways that your furry friend can join you on your
journeys that are both safe and comfortable.

** SUCCESS STORY **
DOGGIE FLATULENCE
"I wanted to let everyone know what worked for me. I have an especially
fragrant beagle and someone at the dog park let me in on this one. Mix one
tablespoon of plain non-fat, non-flavored yogurt in her dog food. Apparently
the enzymes help the dog process the food better. It worked for us."
Actually, it's the bacteria (good guys) in the yogurt that helped in this
situation. With the content of what's in most pet foods, there isn't any
health there for the intestinal system. So, adding yogurt adds some of the
friendly bacteria that the body needs to maintain good bowel health.
Thereby, eliminating the flatulence. Now, the only concern you need to have
is if the dog does not do well with dairy products. Then you will create a
worse problem.....but you will know that rather quickly, won't you? :-)

THAT THING TABBY DOES
Tabby is a trip. She snuggles, she purrs, and then she . . . leaves dead
animals on your doorstep. She also coughs up hairballs, chews through wool
sweaters, incessantly pulls out her own hair, and will only drink water in
very particular ways. Although you might wish you could train Tabby to live
in your house, you just might need to adjust to life in Tabby's house.
