** DONNA'S COMMENTS **
I am happy to report that our cats are settling in nicely. They are no
longer Cave Kitties, since there is now no way for them to hide under the
bed all day. Our final plan (#9) was to take the box spring and mattress
off and fill the space under the frame with boxes of things we didn't need
to access....like Randal's stamp collection, empty shoeboxes, old telephone
books, etc. They are officially Day Kitties now and they sleep at night
after a good time playing right before bed. We're all on the same schedule
and it's lovely! Nights have become a very peaceful time of rest again.
That reminds me of one of my favorite sayings.....
"Not until we extend the circle of compassion to include all living things
shall we ourselves know peace." Albert Schweitzer
Have a purrfectly great week!

CLUMPING LITTER - NOT A GOOD CHOICE
By its very nature, clumping cat litter (sodium bentonite is its main
ingredient) is designed to form a hard, insoluble mass when it gets wet that
can swell to almost 15% of its original volume! When your cat enters his
litter box, he may not only ingest or inhale the fine dust particles that
rise in the air as he scratches - he may also ingest the litter as he
grooms himself. This litter then coats the cat's digestive tract and may
eventually lead to his death!

THUNDER PHOBIA
This problem can also manifest as fear of fireworks and can cause extreme
anxiety in dogs. Dr. Robert Silver, a holistic veterinarian, recommends
PEPPERMINT OIL. "Rub it into the pads of the dog's feet before the animal
gets stressed. The dog will still be anxious, but it will make the animal
less reactive."
