** A NOTE FROM DONNA **
There are a lot of good-feeling websites for animals. As a pet lover, I
also find myself loving animals in general. I've never had a dog but I do
love them. I like to see the dogs that are in service to humans (like
seeing eye dogs and those who do visitation to nursing homes and such).
Even more, I like to see those who were misused in service to humans, such
as greyhounds, being given a chance for a good life. Many of these noble
canines are being adopted to live out the rest of their lives much more
humanely. Is there a greyhound in your future? If you're thinking of
sharing your home with one of these wonderful creatures, check out this site
to get all the answers to your questions. http://www.adopt-a-greyhound.org
This site can put you in touch with adoption agencies throughout the US and
Canada. It's a great way to share some happiness with this spectacular
canine breed. Even if you don't have an interest in this, keep it in mind
for those who might want this information.
Have a rest from the "rat race" this week!
Slow down and smell the flowers! They're beginning to pop up here in
Virginia. I saw a beautiful display of daffodils yesterday.

Ear diseases are no fun for you or your cat.
Ear disease, mites and infections are just
some of the reasons your vet can prescribe

** SUCCESS STORY **
EAR INFECTIONS, VAGINITIS, and DERMATITIS
"Most people have heard of ACIDOPHILUS and know that
it is good for the digestive tract. It's especially useful while
taking antibiotics as it helps to replace the "good" bacteria
that antibiotics kill off. But here is a lesser known, but
equally beneficial use for acidophilus. Simply open two (2)
capsules of GARLIC and put into 3 cups of water and bring
to a boil. Let it cool to room temperature and add two (2)
capsules of ACIDOPHILUS and you have a potent healing
rinse! This is a good combination to use on those red,
inflamed ear flaps that accompany ear infections. It also
makes a great rinse for dogs who suffer from vaginitis and
certain types of dermatitis." Tracy R.

** BEHAVIORAL/EMOTIONAL TIP **
DOING THE BUSINESS
From: TipWorld.com
http://www.topica.com/tipworld
Subscriber Chris W. writes, "I have a two-year-old Akita/Chow. She is
ruining my backyard. I have brown spots everywhere. And she walks
while she is going, which adds to the number of deposits she leaves on
my lawn. I have heard that there is a way to teach dogs to go in one
spot in your yard. Is this possible, and is it too late to teach her
something like this?"
We think it's never too late to teach a dog a new trick. It's just
that the longer the dog has been doing it a different way, the more
you have to work with her on the new way. The only way to teach a dog
to go in one spot in your yard is to prevent her from relieving
anywhere else in the yard. This means you should take the dog out on
leash EVERY TIME to eliminate in the chosen spot. When she uses the
special spot, reward her with a great treat. Consistency, as always,
is the key. This means you have to go with her every time she goes
into the yard. It's a pain, but otherwise she might have the
opportunity to use the old location. Unfortunately, some dogs just
never get it. We've seen dogs taken to a special spot to relieve for
close to a year, and they never grasped the concept. Left to their own
devices, they just relieved themselves wherever they wanted to. Choose
your battles.
