All cat owners should be aware that several types of lilies commonly found
in gardens--and in households as potted plants and floral
arrangements--can be deadly to their pets. Members of the Liliaceae
family, including, but not limited to, tiger lily, Easter lily, rubrum
lily and some species of day lily, can cause kidney failure in cats.
Within just a few hours of ingestion, a cat may vomit, become lethargic or
develop a lack of appetite. Symptoms continue and worsen as kidney damage
progresses. Without prompt and proper treatment by a veterinarian, kidney
failure can develop within 36 to 72 hours.
According to Jill A. Richardson, DVM, of the ASPCA Animal Poison Control
Center, "All parts of the lily plant are considered toxic to cats, and
consuming even small amounts can cause severe poisoning. Owners should
remove these plants from their cat's access." For further information,

FRUIT POPS FOR PUPS
(A Cool Treat on a Hot Summer Day!)
Your dogs (and kids) will love these cooling snacks.
1 quart fruit juice
1 banana, mashed
1/2 cup yogurt
Mix the banana and yogurt in a large bowl and add your dog's favorite juice
(such as apple, grape, peach). Pour the mixture into popsicle containers
and freeze. Hold the popsicle for your dog to lick, or place it in a bowl
for him. Don't leave outside in the heat since the yogurt will "spoil."

** SUCCESS STORY **
ANTS PREFER REAL FOOD
It was reported to us that a new customer did not believe somebody's
claim about how BHA, BHT, and Ethoxyquin were used in the various industries
as fertilizers, rubber stabilizers, preservatives, and pesticides, while
being ingredients in most pet foods.
While the customer did believe that Flint River Ranch was a better pet food
product, she wasn't convinced about the effects of these chemical
preservatives. She decided to do a little "unofficial" testing of her
own.
She took some of her current brand of cat food, a common brand that touts
itself as being tasty, wholesome, and natural, but with chemical
preservatives, and placed it beside some Flint River Ranch cat food in
shallow saucers in the grass.
She came back some time later to find that ants had swarmed all over the
Flint River Ranch brand while none were at her old brand. She deduced that,
given the amount of chemicals in her old brand, they acted not only as a
preservative but were sufficient enough in strength to keep out the bugs.
She is now a promoter of Flint River Ranch healthy pet foods.
