In your lifetime, try to be the person your pet thinks you are.

There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats. - Albert Schweitzer

One reason a dog can be such a comfort when you're feeling blue is that he doesn't try to find out why.-Unknown

I care not for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it. - Abraham Lincoln

"Dogs need to sniff the ground; it's how they keep abreast of current events. The ground is a giant dog newspaper, containing all kinds of late-breaking dog news items, which, if they are especially urgent, are often continued into the next yard." Dave Barry

BRUSHING YOUR CAT
From: http://www.verybestpets.com/

Cats have a wide variety of coats: long, short, coarse or fine. All hairs
must shed at some point - for indoor pets, shedding of old hairs and growth
of new ones happens almost continuously.

To facilitate shedding so that you have some control, and equally important,
for the health of the skin, regular brushing or combing is a must.

As we all know, cats swallow large amounts of their own hair as they
self-groom. By regularly combing their coats, you can help minimize the
risks of hair accumulation and subsequent trichobezoars, also known as
hairballs, or even gastrointestinal obstruction. Metal combs are much more
efficient than bristle or metal slicker brushes. If combed frequently, most
cats appear to enjoy it - especially in the vicinity of the cheeks and
necks. But pay attention to your cat's responses, as many cats are often
annoyed by combing or petting in the abdominal area.

EAR SORE ON RABBIT
"One of my rabbits got an ear mite of sorts that makes a sore on the ear.
I put Golden Salve on every day with a cotton swab, and it immediately
started healing. After about one week, the sore was completely gone and his
ear is good as new! Because of the consistency of Golden Salve, it stuck
well to the ear without me having to bandage it." Ginger

** NATURAL PET FOODS MAKE A DIFFERENCE **

By now you have probably read about the awful
ingredients in pet foods that don't come close to
being actual food. What our pets eat has a very
definite influence on how they feel and how healthy
they are. Good food pays for itself because your
vet bills are much less and they eat less food also.
That means there's less poop to scoop. :-)

** BEHAVIORAL/EMOTIONAL TIP **

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STIMULATION KEY TO BEHAVIOR

Most pet dogs lead criminally under-stimulated lives.
If your dog lived in the wild he would spend the majority
of his time in survival activities. He would be hunting for
his dinner. He would probably have to make several finds
and run-downs before he successfully made a kill. That's
a lot of work! Dogs are programmed to work -- they need
and want a job. Busy dogs are happy dogs.
