** A NOTE FROM DONNA **
Potpourri oil is used every day in homes across the country--but few pet
owners are aware that this popular household fragrance can be dangerous to
cats if ingested. "Most potpourri liquids contain natural or essential
oils, which can cause vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea, weakness and
possibly liver damage," cautions Jill A. Richardson, DVM, of the ASPCA
Animal Poison Control Center. Some products can also burn the mouth
and tongue. And should the liquid get in the cat's eyes or on the skin,
the pain can be severe. Keep the Animal Poison Control Center's 24-hour
number handy for this and any other possible emergency: 1-888-4-ANI-HELP
Our prayers are with those who have friends and family involved in the war
right now. I know that even pets are affected by loved ones being gone, so
we send up prayers for them also. Our hearts are heavy during this time in
our Nation.
Have a blessed week...

HEAVY SHEDDING IS GONE!
"My German Shepherd/Akita mix has very thick hair and I was concerned
because it was coming out in handfuls making his coat look very bad. I
began using Flint River Dog Food and after only a few weeks, I noticed that
he hardly shed at all. His coat is now nice and smooth and people mention
the difference. We have another dog whose hair was always coarse. After
awhile on the Flint River food, my daughter mentioned how much softer her
fur was. She also gave Flint River food to her cat, who is very fussy, and
she ate it right away. She has now found that the cat sheds less too. My
son has been so impressed with the results we got that he tossed out the pet
food he has and ordered Flint River also. I was appalled to find out what
rotten things and chemicals are in most pet foods. I'm so glad to have a
natural pet food that is health-giving. After losing two pets to cancer, I
now understand what is happening in the pet food industry and am glad to be
informed." Georgene

** BEHAVIORAL/EMOTIONAL TIP **
CATS SENSE OF SMELL AFFECTS APPETITE
From: Dummies Daily
http://www.dummiesdaily.com
Cats have a very keen sense of smell. Cats rely on their sense of smell for
self-orientation and for appetite stimulation. In fact, the latter is so
important that nasal obstruction is almost always accompanied by loss of
appetite. Cats also rely on their sense of smell to identify each other.
Did you know that your cat has an additional way of smelling that people do
not have? Cats have two small air passages (the nasopalatine ducts), located
in the roof of the mouth just behind the incisor teeth. These ducts permit
air in the mouth to pass up into the nose. When your cat is using this form
of smelling, you'll see him raise his upper lip as if baring his teeth,
wrinkle his nose, partially open his mouth, and then draw air up into the
nose through the opening in his mouth.
