You may realize that you're not getting this on Monday as usual. You might
also have noticed that you didn't get an issue on Monday. That's because
we've changed the delivery schedule of Natural Pet News to twice a month
(1st and 15th). I'm doing four (4) newsletters now and it's been difficult
to keep up with them all since three were weekly. This will help a lot. I
hope you won't be too disappointed. Our site has all previous newsletters
on it with a search engine on every page of the site, so you can find a link
to something that you saw in Natural Pet News. Just be sure to use the pull
down menu and choose to search in the ezines only and not the entire
website.

ANTIFREEZE AND PETS

I received a newsletter a few weeks ago that had this report:
"Recently our 7-year old Sheltie had to be put down after ingesting
antifreeze..." This reminds us, at this time of year, that antifreeze works
well for cars, but is deadly to dogs, cats and other animals.

Understand the dangers of antifreeze and how to prevent accidents. Share
this information with other pet owners at this time of year. Sometimes we
think everybody knows something, but there are too many similar cases to
show that everybody doesn't know. Please share with those who would be
helped by it. You may be the reason one more pet does not die.

Next week is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, with this coming
Sunday being designated as Open House Day. Make a visit to your shelter to
find out what their needs are. Sometimes you have something you want to
give away that they need. We visited a shelter a couple weeks ago that uses
children's outside play toys in their cat shelters. If you can't stand to
visit, give them a call and ask :-)

VACCINE-ASSOCIATED PET CANCERS

A growing body of evidence is linking pet vaccines to sarcomas. Tumors are
growing where the vaccines were injected in anywhere from 1 in 1,000 to 1 in
10,000 vaccine injections. While most sarcomas are in cats, dogs can also be
victims. Speak with your vet about the most important vaccines for your pet,
and decide together which ones to skip.

DANDELION for PETS

"Dandelion is an excellent food given fresh in unlimited quantities.
Fermenting or wilted plants can cause bloat. Dandelions are one of the most
nutritious food plants for rabbits. Being rich in protein and poor in
fiber..
The digestibility percentage is high at an estimated 70%. Well known for
it's curative powers. The bitter milky sap stimulates the working of all
glands, including the milk glands of lactating does. The plant has both
laxative and astringent qualities and regulates constipation and diarrhea.

Dandelion is good for many things in people and can be used for rabbits (and
other animals) with these problems also: preventing osteoporosis (for the
old bunny or pets), bladder infections, lactating, liver problems, swelling,
tonsilitis, warts, and pneumonia.

I feed a lot of Dandelion every day, especially to my babies and they just
love it, but you have to be careful because that is all that they will want
and won't eat their pellets. So I limit it to a few small handfuls a day."
