I realize I am following in the path of someone that not only writes but
brings alive text. I know that my strength is not in composition but in
finding and researching relevant issues. To that thought, I ask you, the

Here it is a New Year once again. It seems like we just celebrated 2001
only a few months ago. We have certainly been through a lot as a nation.

SCRATCHES/SORES HEALING AND EARS STANDING UP AGAIN

"The new kitty scratched up my Chihuahua pup's ears. They started to flop
over because the scratches would scab over and break open again and again
and there was alot of redness. Took her to the vet, since her ears had been
standing up for over 2 months before getting the kitten, he told me to use
an antibiotic ointment and hydrocortisone cream. He also taped her ears up
for 11 days. She looked like a little martian running round. She got the
ears untaped but they flopped down again. One night I came across Golden
Salve in my nightstand drawer and dabbed it on Sierra's ears. By the next
morning they were remarkably improved. She hates the smell of it and I have
to chase her around a bit or sneak up on her to apply the Golden Salve, but
her ears are all healed now and stand up on their own again since the sores
are healed and the inflammation is gone. I hope they contiune to do so, even
though I would love my little flop eared chihuahua just as much as my

Every cat should own several scratching posts, of varying size, angle, and
scratching surface. Scratching posts are essential to cats for needed
exercise, stress relief, and claw management, and will save wear and tear on
furniture and carpeting, as well. With scratching posts, costs are not as
important a factor as the cat's individual needs, and sometimes the least
