** A NOTE FROM RANDAL **
Hello Everyone,
We recently received our copy of "The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care"
which we had ordered online. This book was written by CJ Puotinen, who was
author of the article published about our natural heartworm program in Whole
Dog Journal. In this revised edition of her groundbreaking work, CJ gives
animal lovers even more of the information they'll need to care for their
dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits the natural way. View it online here:

ALLERGIES AND SCENTED CANDLES
I am trying to inform everyone that deals with animals about the possible
dangers of scented candles and pets. After three years of terrible rashes
and infections, we finally found out that our cat and our son are having a
reaction to scented candles. Sorscha (cat) broke out when she was 6 months,
was diagnosed with everything from ringworm to pemphigus, suffered extreme
infections, and spent a good deal of her life on prednisone. After we
eliminated everything else and she was almost clear we lit a candle in the
room she was confined to, and lo and behold, rashes. The candles are gone,
and she is 100% clear. Please, use caution when using scented candles or
oils around cats, they are much more sensitive than humans. If you have a
client with an unexplained rash, question whether or not the owner uses
scented candles or oils. - Sherry

HENS LIKE HERBS TOO
I have three laying hens and one of them was obviously sick---roosting
during the day, sitting "puffed up" and not eating well. I went to my
local
farm supply store for some sort of medicine. When I got there, I read that
a common treatment was an antibiotic. If I had given this to my hen, I
would not have been able to eat the eggs for a period of time. I asked if
they had anything "natural". She showed me a bottle. I read the
ingredients, one of which was oil of oregano. Hmmm....I thought to myself.
I have NSP Wild Oregano at home! I wonder if it would work! I keep a
solution of wild oregano and olive oil on hand at all times for a variety of
human ailments. I dropped about 5 drops of this into my chickens' water.
Within 24 hours, she was up and walking around again. Within 48-72 hours,
she is as good as new--pushing her way to the feed with all the others.
Praise God! He has provided us with the answers for not only us humans but
our critter friends as well in His creation of herbs.

** BEHAVIORAL/EMOTIONAL TIP **
PLAYING WITH YOUR DOG
Playing fetch is not your only option these days when you want to interact
in a fun way with your dog. The interest in canine sports is growing by
leaps and bounds and new sports are cropping up almost every year. There is
everything from the age-old Dogsledding, to the relatively new sports of
Frisbee and Agility.

THE SOUND YOU HATE TO HEAR
You're sitting at your computer when you hear a sound all cat owners DREAD,
the tearing of claws on fabric! You rush into the next room and grab the
squirt bottle or can o' coins. Your cat takes off for under the bed. You
return to your computer muttering.
Did you notice the cat toy in the center of the room, right where the cat
was sitting before you charged in?
Maybe, your cat was trying to tell you something!
