** A NOTE FROM RANDAL **
Hello Everyone,
I am writing this early because I had an Uncle pass away and I will be attending
the funeral in Oklahoma City. I enjoy getting to be in touch with all of you and
didn't want to miss sending this issue.
We just got back from our annual convention with Nature's Sunshine. This
year it was held in Nashville, TN, in the Opryland Hotel. I am amazed how
much we walked to get from place to place. I guess when it is so pretty
while you are walking, you don't realize it. We ate more than usual, but didn't
gain any weight.
We had a great time and it was great seeing friends we hadn't seen for
awhile. However, it's always good to get home. There surely is no place
like home! :-) And I can't wait till I get back!
Until next time!
Randal

** HEALTH/HERBAL INFO **
DRY AND FLAKY SKIN - COAT DULL AND BRITTLE
This is such a common problem today and the bottom line of most of it is the
fact that there isn't much nutrition in the foods people are feeding their
animals.
Meat taken from diseased and downded animals for pet foods are bad enough,
but when you add in beaks, feet, hooves, and other non-nutritious foods, you
can't have a healthy pet. So, first thing to look at is to use a quality
food and "premium" doesn't mean quality. You can read more about this
on
our site: http://www.theherbsplace.com/frr.html
It takes time to build back nutrition and if the animal is already suffering
with the problem, you may want to add a fatty acid supplement to the food.
Flax seed oil or olive oil can be used. You can get it in supplement form,
if you'd like to use it as a treat wrapped in a piece of cheese or something
for dogs. Omega 3 is a good choice for capsules:

A basic supplement would be beneficial if the animal seems to be
nutrient-starved. Just as a basic multi-vitamin/mineral will do wonders in
a human, it can do so in an animal also. We use Nature's Pet Ration:

Dry, itchy skin is no fun for us or them and getting to the root cause is
much easier than cortisone shots and the side effects....not to mention the
COST!

URINARY BLOCKAGE
"I woke up to find one of our cats laying in the litter box which he has
never done. I didn't know what was wrong, but he was obviously not feeling well.
I got him out, cleaned him off, and as I was pondering what the problem was, he
tried to urinate with absolutely no results -- and tried again a few minutes later
as we were discussing what to do.
We were very concerned since it was the middle of the night. We had gotten up
at 3:30 for my husband to make an early flight. I had JP-X in the herb drawer
so I gave him some right away and then gave him more before leaving.
When I returned he still hadn't gone and the vet still wasn't open. I gave him
a third dose of herbs and after another two hours, he had urinated a huge amount
wetting a third of the litter box. I was so glad that we keep a supply of herbs
and some good resource books for our family and pets. It really made a big difference
for our family this week!" Donna L.

CRATE TRAINING, IS IT GOOD OR BAD?
A crate can be a useful training tool for your new puppy or dog. However,
crating a dog or puppy isn't always a first recommendation. Learn more

KIDS BACK TO SCHOOL - KEEP THE IMMUNE SYSTEM UP!
This is the time of year children are exposed to all kinds of germs and
viruses. If you haven't noticed not every child gets sick! You can prevent
it. We always kept immune-building herbs going in during the times our son
was to be amidst the "battleground." One of our favorites is VS-C, a
formula for germs and viruses. It comes in liquid and capsule. When we
needed a chewable we used Elderberry Plus. Read more about why these work
and keep your children well this year for school and all the holiday
festivities. Limiting sugar will make a big difference for the immune
system also! VS-C: http://www.theherbsplace.com/vsc.html
