** A NOTE FROM RANDAL **
Hello Everyone,
We have had cooler weather and we have received some much
needed rain. We
needed that rain in the worst way. We are both doing well and staying in
more since it turned cold.
With holidays coming I know it can be a tenser time than usual.
Often our
pets feels this stress too. Try to set some boundaries this year on what
you will take on. Those boundaries will help you, your family and pets to
have a much better holiday season too.
Losing a pet friend can be tragic and in this issue I included
some links to
help with that event. You may not need it now but I encourage you to file
it away for someone you know that may go through a loss in the near future.
Thanks for your continued readership and support.
Until next time!
Randal

PREGNANCY AND BIRTH IN CATS
Although cat enthusiasts are strongly encouraged
to spay and neuter their cats, sometimes you'll find
yourself "adopted" by a pregnant cat. This info
will help in those situations.

DESKUNKING YOUR DOG
At some point in time you may need this - especially if you live
in the woods like we do. Those little critters are so precious
UNTIL they flip tail and squirt. Keep this
solution handy.

**TRAINING TIP**
A FEEDING SCHEDULE IS KEY FOR HOUSE TRAINING HAPPINESS
Until your dog is housebroken, avoid treats and in-between meal snacks. The
whole idea is to feed your dog, observe them constantly for the 15 -20
minutes after they eat and then bring them to the place where you want them
to do their business. Do it like clockwork and you'll be putting your puppy
in a position to succeed. This is all about setting expectations and
teaching your eager learner to do what you want. And when they do, praise
them wildly. Make it seem like that little pee or poop that they did is the
greatest and most magnificent thing you've ever seen in your entire life.
Your friends and neighbors may think you're crazy, but I can't stress enough
the power of praise. It's what your puppy craves. Give it to her in generous
amounts.

RENTING WITH PETS
- The Online Resource for Rental Managers and Pet Owners - "Moving"
and
"landlord won't allow" are among the top reasons given by pet owners
who
give their dogs or cats to animal shelters. If more rental housing permitted
pets, millions of dogs and cats could be placed in more available homes.
