DOG TO GET BULLET-PROOF VEST

Cleveland Metroparks' rangers and their dog, Radar, will receive
bullet-proof vests courtesy of the North Coast Humane Society, NewsChannel5
reported.

Radar is a special purpose dog who has completed 200 hours of specialty
certification.

The vest will be presented at the Metroparks Zoo at about 8:30 a.m.


DOGS MAKE BEST BEDFELLOWS FOR PET-LOVING BRITS

(Reuters) - One in three British dog owners spends more time with their pet
than with their partner - and when it comes to sleeping, they rate highly as
cuddly bedfellows, a survey shows.

Over 40 percent of dog-owners allow their four-legged friends to share their
bed, the poll of 500 dog owners on behalf of Churchill Insurance found.

Eleven percent even felt that their pooches had assumed a more important
role in their lives than their spouses.

Two in three said their dog was their best friend and one in 10 said it was
more important to them than their family.

BEAGLE MAKES INCREDIBLE, 800-MILE JOURNEY

AUBURN, Ala. - Stray dogs show up all the time around Auburn University.
They don't usually belong 800 miles away in Kansas.

But that was the case with Norman, a beagle who wandered off from his oner
in Solomon, Kan., one day in March and showed up Friday outside an Auburn
University computer repair shop.

"I didn't think much of it ˜ we've found dogs out here before," said Daryl
Waites, Auburn's digital repair manager. "Usually just some student lost
them."

Waites, a dog lover and owner, coaxed the beagle into the repair shop, where
he and receptionist Cindy Darby checked the dog's collar. The collar's dull
brass tag was inscribed: 2003, City of Solomon, KS.

Darby called City Hall in Solomon, a small town located 90 miles west of
Topeka, and gave the tag number and a description of the dog.

"It sounded like a description of Norman," said an astonished Tallie Baetz,
Solomon's city clerk.

DOG DOING WELL WITH HERBAL PROGRAM

"Brownie Lou is doing great! He wants to run soooo badly! Wagging that
tail all the time too! I remember when we took Brownie Lou in from the
shelter after his owner had to return him to move into a nursing home. We
fell in love at first sight with this 12-year old dog with a raccoon face..
He fit right in with ur other dogs and learned the ropes quickly. His bad
breath led us to discover that most of his back teeth were barely intact and

reaction to pain medication, he took a turn for the worse and we thought we

and the fever oone.

We still had the looming decision before us as to how to treat his
heartworms. Considering Brownie Lou's age and predisposition to medication
allergies, he would not be a good candidate for traditional heartworm
treatments, so I searched online for an alternative method and found
Bandit's natural heartworm program. I emailed Robin and was so pleased when
she replied and provided me with so much information and caring advice.
Robin and Bandit gave me hope that we kould treat our little 'old' fellow
and help him to be healthy once again and live many more years with us! I
ordered the program and we've been on it for four weeks and Brownie Lou has
felt wonderful. It is hard to keep him on a leash because he wants to run,
run, run. His tail wags constantly and our little buddy is feeling so god.
