A Note From Randal
******************
Hello Everyone,
I want to share a place with you that is nearby where we live. It's a
no-kill shelter that provides a sanctuary for homeless dogs and cats. My
wife and I have been involved with a few animal welfare organizations over
the years and this one really impresses us because it's super clean and the
organizational / administrative structure takes care of the details. The
dogs have volunteers to walk and feed them so they can develop relationships
with somebody until they find their forever home. It's heartwarming to know
these places exist. Let me introduce you to Caring for Creatures:
Caring For Creatures is situated on 157 beautiful and secluded acres in the
rural countryside of central Virginia. We are located approximately 35 miles
southeast of Charlottesville and 65 miles west of Richmond, VA.
At any given time CFC is home to 200 animals: on average we have 55 dogs in
residence and 145 cats. Each animal is spayed or neutered. If a CFC animal
is not adopted, he or she may live out their life at the sanctuary. They do
not euthanize animals to create additional space.
If you can't adopt a pet of your own, you can sponsor one at Caring for
Creatures. A sponsor is an individual or group of individuals that is
willing to financially support an animal on a monthly basis. Each sponsor
receives a Sponsorship Certificate with a photograph of their "adopted" animal
along with a brief resume and history about them. Your donation is tax-deductible
too!
Find out more at their site:
Until next time,
Randal

Rabbits As House Pets - By Dr. Marty Becker
Did you know that many people keep rabbits in their home as house bunnies?
They do so because rabbits make great animal companions.
Rabbits live up to 10 years and are intelligent and affectionate pets. They
can live inside the house in a large cage and, if properly trained, can
learn to use a litter box and live out of their cage. Avoid pine and cedar
shavings in litter boxes as these are suspected of causing liver problems in
rabbits. Spaying and neutering of house rabbits is recommended. Male
un-neutered rabbits will spray urine for scent marking and altered male and
female rabbits are believed to be easier to litter train.

Want Optimum Health For Your Pet?
It won't happen with most of the pet food formulas on the market. Have you
noticed that pets are getting all the diseases that people have been getting
since we began eating junk foods? Our bodies run on nutrients and enzymes.
We can't be well without them. Read this article about pet foods and make
the choice after you compare popular pet food brands.

What To Do When You Find a Stray Dog or Cat
You're in your car, heading somewhere or other, a long list of things to
accomplish and already running late. Suddenly, you see hima dog, there,
by
the side of the road. With a sinking feeling, you realize he's alone. Your
car is coming alongside him now. You have only seconds in which to act. But
what should you do?

Need Help With A Hyper Dog?
This is our most popular story from working with animals at our shop:
We had a couple who used herbs and had a hyper Rottweiler that would race to
the door to "greet" anybody that visited. With an in-home business
and
customers picking up orders, this family needed some calming herbs for the
dog. They began giving him VALERIAN ROOT and in about a week, the dog knew
he needed it. Anytime they would grab a bottle of herbs, whether for
themselves or him, the dog would come running and beg for a capsule. Most
pets' instincts are still tuned in to nature. If you've got a hyper cat or
dog, try Valerian Root. http://www.theherbsplace.com/valerian.html

Comments on Soothing Mist from a customer:
"My dog has had a problem with compulsively chewing his back near his tail.
I've tried several things and they don't seem to work for long. I saw
Soothing Mist on Healthy Pet Corner's site and decided to give it a try.
The herbs in it sounded very soothing and healing. I added some Tea Tree
Oil because I like to deter fleas. I've used a spray of Lavender and Tea
Tree to prevent fleas for years, but he always ran from me when I wanted to
spray him. When I get the bottle of Soothing Mist, he comes to me and sits
still, so I think he knows it's helping him. I've been using it on my cat
that has skin issues also and it's been doing good." Robin

How To Give Herbs To Pets
We have used herbs and supplements with pets since 1982 and that was before
there was a market for "natural pet products." Animals love herbs
- it's so
natural for them. Here's some ways to get herbs into your pets and on how
