A Note From Virginia
******************
Hi again,
Spring is just around the corner. Where I live the
daffodils are blooming and some plants are
getting green leaves. I love spring!!! It's time
also to start making preparations for flea and
other pest control for our pets. Look for that
information in our next newsletter.

Dental care is very important for pets. If you
can see heavy brown deposits on your pet's
teeth, particularly on the back ones, you
may have reason for concern. The most
common causes for this buildup are
misaligned teeth, overfeeding, poor-quality
food, lack of hard, chewable things to exercise
the teeth and gums, and frequent nibbling.
Once these deposits are formed, they are
rock-hard. Usually needing removal by
a veterinarian. This requires anesthesia.
Poor dental care can result in infections
that can cause other very serious problems.
I once had an animal that had kidney
problems that were attributed to dental
problems.
To help with prevent dental problems:
Make sure your pets are on good food.
Give them a natural "tooth-brush"
Dogs: 1 day a week large RAW bone. Avoid
cooked bones (they can splinter) and small
or easily splintered bones from chickens
and turkeys. These can be dangerous. For
the first few weeks, limit bone chewing to 30
minutes a day. Be sure to watch that large pieces
are not swallowed. Hard vegetables like a carrot
is also good for pet to chew.
Cats: They can be given small raw bones as well.
This article has appeared before in this newsletter,
but I wanted to make it available again.

It's A Dog's (Social) Life
Does your dog have a social life most single people
would envy? Or is your furry friend in need of a dating
service to find more compatible playmates? Read on...
The rapid spread of off-leash dog parks and the increase
in the, shall we say, "spoil factor" among pet owners has
opened up a whole new world of social interaction for
dogs and their guardians. Recently a friend was checking
her calendar before setting aside some time to meet and it
went something like this:
Tuesday: Ralph and Kiki - 4:00 - Dog Park
Wednesday: Lucky and Mona - 5:30 - Beach
Thursday: Nunu - walk/lunch
Friday: Mark - 6:00 Dinner (Aha! A human!)
Saturday: 10:00 - "The Gang" - Dog Park
Her calendar had more play-dates in it for her dog than
for herself! Even her lunch date on Thursday included
a dog! What? Your dog hasn't had a play date?! Well,
check here for an off-leash park near you and get socializing:
Dogpark.com or Dog Fun Directory
So what if your dog is more of a home-body? And what about
the cat? Well, there is a place for them to meet friends too.
Dogster.com and Catster.com can provide a whole gang of
"virtual" friends for the stay-at-home pet. On these sites
you can post your companion's picture and describe her likes
and dislikes, create links to her furry friends and family's
pictures, and even "help" her write diary entries. There is even
a page to search for pet-friendly hotels - maybe you'll decide
to meet up with one of your companion's online pals!
And speaking of "meeting up" with pals, how is YOUR social life?
Are you waiting to find like-minded friends who will love your
four-legged family as much as you do? Wait no longer! Once
you've got Rover's posting up at Dogster.com, surf on over to
DateMyPet.com or AnimalAttraction.com
and post your own profile. Here you can find
animal lovers like yourself looking for everything from friendship
and play dates for their pets, to love and a commitment to cherish
all four-legged family members in a "blended" family forever.
Enjoy!!

Find a natural solution for yourself. Herbs and supplements work for
people and pets. Many pet owners do everything to keep their pet

Good News Pet Story
*******************
In the town where I live, this is the second year we have celebrated
Mardi Gras. This year it was really special. We had a four-legged
Mardi Gras queen. Her name is Abbey Payne and she is a basset hound.
She was so cute dressed up in her Mardi Gras beads and clothes.
